Disaster Risk Management

In this project, Beladona collaborated with National Disaster Management Authority of Indonesia (BNPB) for Monitoring and Evaluation Results of the National Disaster Mitigation Plan (RENAS PB) Period I within the Disaster Mitigation Master Plan (RIPB) for the 2020-2024 period and also collaborated with Disaster Management Authority (BPBD) Sleman for Mitigating the Impact of Mount Merapi's Disasters

To strengthen governance in disaster management, strategies are needed, which are then outlined through RIPB and RENAS PB documents. The strategies encompass planning, implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation. According to the regulations, the control and evaluation mechanism of RIPB are reported by the Head of BNPB to the President of the Republic of Indonesia through the Coordinating Minister for PMK.

To fulfill the mandate of RIPB and to manifest accountability and transparency in the implementation of disaster management strategies, BNPB conducts monitoring and evaluation of RENAS PB. This activity aims to:

1) Measure the achievements of RENAS PB actions from 2020 to 2022.

2) Monitor and evaluate the achievement of program activities of ministries/agencies (K/L) in supporting the implementation of the national action plan in RENAS PB and its relevance in supporting RIPB 2020-2044.

3) Report the results of monitoring and evaluation of RENAS PB from 2020 to 2022, which then become public references in enhancing disaster management governance.

Therefore, collaboration from various parties is needed, one of which is the role of geospatial experts to visualize the achievements of RENAS PB actions. The following are the scopes that need to be undertaken by me as a geospatial expert:

1. Create 38 maps for monitoring and evaluation results of the National Disaster Mitigation Plan (RENAS PB) Period I within the Disaster Mitigation Master Plan (RIPB) for the 2020-2024 period.

2. Update the spatial database of Geographic Information System (GIS) based on monitoring and evaluation data.

3. Conduct symbol analysis on each map to ensure accurate representation and prevent misinformation.

Here are some examples of the outputs from the achievements of RENAS PB actions.

The background for conducting the Disaster-Prone Area Study as an Effort to Implement Disaster Mitigation in Mount Merapi is due to the complex activities of Mount Merapi, which require special handling to prevent harm to humans or other living beings. One effort to prepare communities for active volcanoes is through disaster mitigation measures. Collaboration from various parties is necessary for disaster mitigation activities, including from the geospatial sector. The following are some efforts that have been undertaken as a manifestation of the implementation of the geospatial sector in disaster mitigation activities:

a) Conducted classification and created Disaster-Resilient Village (DESTANA) maps in Sleman Regency.

b) Analyzed suitable locations for the establishment of disaster shelters as a tangible form of disaster mitigation.

c) Calculated the frequency of disasters in Sleman throughout the year 2022.

d) Created maps for every disaster that occurred in Sleman throughout the year 2022.

The Disaster-Resilient Village Map aims to visualize the villages in Sleman that have participated in the DESTANA program.
The Map of Planned Locations for Mount Merapi Disaster Evacuation Shelters is created using suitability analysis theory, taking into account roads and buildings in the vicinity.
The Disaster Incident Map in Sleman is divided into two types: based on the type of disaster that occurred and based on the month of the incident
